Buddhist Scripture
Buddhist teachings were passed down orally and written down several hundred years after the Buddha's death.
After the Buddha's death, there were groups that interpreted buddhist teachings differently. Several groups arose, along with their own teachings and practices. Three major branches of Buddhism are: Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana. Each of these branches have their own scriptures.
