Abraham
Abraham lived in the city of Ur (Kingdom of Sumer) in 2000 B.C.E. God calls upon Abraham for him and his wife to leave his house and to find new land and promised to guide him and show him the route. If he followed Gods task, then Abraham will receive a gift from God; a son, to be the next heir of the family. Once Abraham accepted Gods task, Abraham, Sarai and Lot and began there journey wandering in Canaan for new land. Although Abraham belittled faith in God, God helped Abraham survive and face challenges throughout the journey. Once they completed Gods tasks, God promised Abraham that he will give him a son. Abraham and Sarai began to laugh because they are too old to be having children. One day, a group of men appeared to Abraham's house and told Abraham that Sarai will be pregnant and Sarai over heard their conversation and began to laugh. A year later, Sarah was pregnant at age 90 and named their son Isaac. After Sarai's pregnancy, the couple began to pardon God for not believing in him. Abraham and Sarai were known to be the first Jews.

Isaac
Isaac is the son of Abraham and the first child born as a Jew. When Isaac was a teenager, God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son. Although God was against human sacrifice, he wanted to test Abraham to see if he would actually do it or go against God. Abraham obeyed God and attempted to kill Isaac. Once Isaac was placed in a table with a dagger in his neck, God immediately sent an Angel to stop Abraham and save Isaac. Abraham failed the test of faith because he did not refuse to sacrifice his son. As Isaac grew older, he took over Abraham's land when he died. He also married Rebecca and had fraternal twin sons: Jacob and Esau. |
Jacob
The twins were born in Canaan and their father was Isaac. Jew sibling Jacob and Esau, grew up hating each other because of their competition on favoritism. Esau was Isaac's favorite and Jacob was Rebecca's favorite. As their parents grew older, Rebecca gave Jacob a blessing leaving out Esau. When the twins grew older, Jacob went to live with his uncle and met his wife Rachel and they had twelve sons and one daughter. Years later, Jacob returned to Canaan because he wanted to se his brother. Jacob prayed to God to give his brother gifts and Esau received the gifts. Jacob wrestled with a man and when Jacob won, he demanded a blessing from him and the man confessed it was an angel from God. The angel blessed Jacob and changed his name to Irael meaning " the Champion of God". The next day, Jacob went to Esau's and welcomed him with joy.
