Inuit Throat SingingThroat singing is a musical form of expression in the Inuit religion and it consists of two or more participants, dressed in the religion's attire. While the two participants face each other, they imitate surrounding noises such as animals; these participants are half a second off from each other - this helps blend the voices. They sway left to right as they are making the noise that comes from their voice, throat & breathing. This initially used to sing babies to sleep or played as a game during the long winter seasons. This tradition is passed on by orally and cannot be written down - it must be learned from someone. It is believed that learning this tradition from elders will help them connect with Inuit strength and tradition.
